This research addresses the critical challenge faced by the Production Control area of a manufacturing plant, where the lack of daily visibility regarding coverage of manufactured and purchased materials caused recurrent line stoppages and shipment delays. The objective was to implement the 'Material Coverage' methodology to solve this operational problem and optimize inventories. The investigation used a systematic and structured approach, combining qualitative methods and quantitative techniques to quantify historical material information and analyze operational stoppages over a three-month period. The methodology was based on the use of Information Technologies (IT), linking Excel databases (automatically fed via macros/Visual Basic using the Daily Production Report) to the data analysis software Power BI. This system was designed to generate a 30-day inventory forecast at the simple part level. The results showed that the new methodology was functional and effective, achieving an evident reduction in the impact on production metrics and preventing abrupt line suspension. The initial hypothesis was accepted, concluding that the implementation of this automated control system optimizes resource management and is potentially replicable. However, it was noted that some aspects of control still require manual intervention.
