Perception and adaptation of engineering educators to the implementation of TIA Portal v17 in higher education

This study analyzes the perception and adaptation of professors from the FIME-UANL regarding the incorporation of TIA Portal V17 software in the Automation course, replacing STEP 7. The research followed a quantitative, descriptive design, applying surveys to evaluate digital competence, familiarity with the tool, frequency of use, and training needs. Results indicate high levels of digital proficiency and consistent technical use of the software, with average responses ranging from 4.0 to 4.25 on a five-point scale, reflecting significant technical adequacy. Nonetheless, the study identifies improvement areas related to the pedagogical integration of the software and the need for ongoing professional development. Overall, findings reveal a teaching community receptive to technological innovation but still requiring institutional support to enhance didactic implementation of TIA Portal V17 and promote engineering education aligned with Industry 4.0 principles.
