Restructuring the maintenance area of a company in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 regulation

This article proposes the realization of documentary-descriptive research according to the restructuring of the maintenance department of a company that provides services in the manufacturing of profiles and metal mechanics; whose purpose is to show the importance of investing in maintenance as an opportunity to obtain benefits in production, quality and costs of the company. Therefore, the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 in the company is perceived as a way to improve maintenance management and increase productivity, meeting customer expectations. Thanks to the implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 methodology, specifically the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act), the results obtained in the maintenance area include the creation and standardization of formats for the control and follow-up of preventive maintenance, as well as databases and equipment labels to facilitate the identification and scheduling of maintenance. In addition, the efficiency and visibility of the maintenance performed were improved, with an increase of 71%, which benefited the quality of the company's products and services.
