Impact of basic sciences consultancy on failure indicators in higher education

The Academy of Mathematics of Unidad Académica Multidisciplinaria Reynosa Aztlan de la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, in view of the need to improve Teaching-Learning in the area of exact Sciences and in the face of the challenges of Social Distancing actions derived from the COVID-19 pandemic, In the Educational Program of Industrial Engineering corresponding to the period 2020-3, one of the strategies proposed in the mixed modality virtual option: is to carry out an Analysis of Diagnostic Results of the subjects that compete to be able to support those students who require counseling in order that they have the necessary mathematical knowledge and carry out various learning strategies that contribute to its strengthening. In accordance with the academy’s manual, the actions that are under the responsibility of the Academy are evaluated in each school term to determine their relevance and raise their quality. One of the proposals in the application of the Comprehensive Strategies to reduce Dropout and Failure of the educational program, is the appointment of Junior Advisors in the Classroom, whose function is to provide support and advice to students who are studying the corresponding subject and that they are channeled by the teacher. It should be noted that, as a conclusion, satisfactory results were obtained, giving as a benefit the improvement of the indicators and being able to meet the established goal.
