An analysis of the problems that cause low production performance in the manufacturing of automotive parts of a company in northern Mexico was carried out. Using Pareto and Ishikawa diagrams, the causes of low performance were identified and attacked from roots. The main cause of low part productivity was identified as machine downtime. A holder was designed and implemented in the production line that allows to increase the time available in the machine, reducing the transfer times to obtain tools in the production line. An increase of 51.6% to 61.5% of the available time of the machine was obtained, the production increased from 2.6 to 3.1 pieces per workday, the total efficiency of the equipment was increased from 46.2% to 56%. Finally, the equipment cost per hour was decreased from $ 588.78MXN to $470.93MXN, with a delta of $ 117.85MXN per hour.
