An investigation of the academic environment was carried out, related to school desertion and failure rates of undergraduate students, whose problems are very common and depend on multiple factors, with worrying statistics and with serious consequences for those affected. The universe is the 6 faculties of the Mederos Campus.
The sample is the Faculties of Communication Sciences, Political Sciences, Economics and Visual Arts. Students from each of the 4 faculties of the sample were selected. The measuring instrument was a questionnaire converted into a survey. Main results: interpersonal, family and organizational communication was used regularly by university students under study. Information technology and communication have been used for purposes of socialization, mainly social networks and to a lesser extent for working with academic content in the UANL platforms, such as Nexus, SIASE and Facebook. Economic problems, lack of motivation of teachers and students, lack of support from school authorities, harassment among classmates, ignorance of the curriculum and academic programs were the main reasons for the failure and school dropout.
